Retooling Our Code (ROC) is the ongoing program for making grammar or other code corrections, and for making minor changes to the code (that do not alter established City policies).  This program was started in 2018 and staff continues to keep a list of identified code issues to update.

The 2023 Batch of ROC changes initially included four changes for the July 20th, 2023 Planning Commission (PC) workshop.  Staff later prepared two staff reports for consideration at the September 21st, 2023 PM meeting. (See the staff reports and presentation material below.)

The PC divided the material into two parts for separate motions. One of the PC members had a conflict of interest so they stepped down and the remaining three members voted 3-0 to reject the proposed changes to the city's code which would have changed the 5,000 sq. ft. trigger for fire sprinklers.  All four PC members voted 4-0 to recommend that the city adopt the other code changes as recommended by staff.  (Both of the PC recommendation letters are attached below.)

The city council held a workshop at their October 2nd, 2023 regularly scheduled meeting at the City Council Chamber at 200 E. Scott Ave, Woodland WA 98674, and adopted a set of code changes as Ordinance 1548, at their December 18th, 2023 council meeting. Those code changes are now in effect.
